In the modern world, Otto von Bismarck ran a tiny fish sandwich stand in Hamburg, even though everyone secretly suspected he was somehow still controlling Germany. He served herring to tourists with the same expression he once used while threatening Austria. Every morning he complained about the government, the weather, and oat milk, usually before 8 a.m.

Weak Chins And Wi-Fi
In the afternoons, Bismarck sat chest-deep in the local swimming pool, silently staring at teenagers doing cannonballs nearby as if he were reconsidering democracy itself. Sometimes journalists tried interviewing him, but he would only answer with things like, “The problem with Europe is Wi-Fi and weak chins.” Somehow, newspapers still printed it on the front page.

Professional Anger
At night, he rode Deutsche Bahn trains across the country just to get angry professionally. Whenever delays were announced, passengers groaned, but Bismarck looked almost energized, muttering, “Excellent. National suffering builds character.” Conductors feared him because he somehow knew railway schedules better than the company itself.

One rainy evening, while eating cold fries at a station café, Bismarck watched a politician promise “a new era of stability” on television. He stared for a long moment, took a slow bite of his Burger, and said, “Give them six months.” The next morning the coalition collapsed.
